Where our products come from
We buy in three ways, and never in any other way:
- From the brand's appointed distributor in Bangladesh. For brands with a local presence — Neutrogena, Garnier, Simple, Ponds, Himalaya — this is the whole supply. The distributor holds the brand's authorisation letter, and the cartons arrive with commercial invoices in our name.
- From the brand's authorised regional distributor, imported under our own IRC. Most Korean skincare reaches Bangladesh this way — COSRX, Beauty of Joseon, Some By Mi. The stock clears customs with a Bill of Entry, and the paperwork names the exporter the brand itself lists.
- From the brand directly, where the brand sells wholesale without a regional layer.
We do not buy from wholesale markets, from “stock lot” or “shelf pull” sellers, from luggage importers, or from anybody offering a price that a genuine importer could not have paid. That last one is the practical filter: an authentic product has a floor price made of the brand's wholesale rate, the duty, the VAT and the shipping, and anything sold below that floor is either stolen, expired, or fake. It is the reason our prices are not the lowest you will see on Facebook.
What happens before a product is listed
- The carton is opened and matched to the paperwork.Quantity, barcode and brand against the invoice and, for imports, the Bill of Entry.
- The batch code and expiry are recorded against that shipment, so if a question is ever raised about a unit we can trace it back to the consignment it came in on.
- Seals, safety features and print quality are checked.A shrink wrap that has been re-applied, a lot code printed at a different depth from the carton's, a fold-out leaflet with the wrong typeface — these are what a counterfeit fails on, and they are visible before anything is photographed or listed.
- Anything with less than six months of shelf life is not listed at full price. If we sell it at all it is marked as short-dated, with the expiry stated on the product page.
How you can verify what you received
Do this the day the parcel arrives, while our three-day return window is still open. None of it needs us:
- Check the batch code against the manufacturer's own system. Nearly every cosmetic carries a batch or lot code printed — not stuck — on the carton and repeated on the bottle. Free batch-code checkers online will decode it into a manufacturing date for most Western brands, and Korean brands print the expiry date directly. Two things to look for: the code on the box and the code on the bottle must match, and the manufacturing date must be plausible for a product still in shelf life.
- Check the security features the brand actually uses. Many brands sold here carry a hologram, a scratch-off code or a QR code that leads to the brand's own domain. Scan it with your phone camera and look at the address bar: a genuine code lands on the brand's site, a fake one lands on a lookalike domain or nowhere at all.
- Compare the product against the brand's own photographs. Open the brand's official site or verified Instagram and compare cap shape, pump length, the exact shade of the plastic, and the ingredient list's line breaks. Counterfeits are usually right at a glance and wrong in the details.
- Open the parcel in front of the delivery rider. You are entitled to inspect before paying on a cash-on-delivery order. Check that the seal is intact and the product matches what you ordered. If it does not, refuse the parcel — you pay nothing, and nothing has to be argued about afterwards.
- Ask us for the batch record. Send us the batch code from your unit and we will tell you which consignment it came in on and when. If we cannot, that is our problem to fix and you get your money back.
If you think something is not genuine
Tell us within three days of delivery. Send a photo of the batch code, the outer carton and the product itself to support@skinmaxbd.com or call +8801332147481, with your order number.
We arrange the return pickup at our cost and refund you in full, including the delivery charge — we do not ask you to prove the case first, and we do not offer a store credit instead. The full mechanics are in the refund & return policy. We would rather lose the sale and know that a bad unit reached somebody, because that tells us about a supplier and one complaint is never one unit.
What this promise does not cover
Authenticity is not the same as suitability. A genuine product can still break you out, sting, pill under sunscreen or smell wrong to you — skin is individual, and a reaction is not evidence of a counterfeit. We cannot take back an opened cosmetic that turned out not to suit you, for the same hygiene reason no pharmacy can. What we can do is help you choose before you buy: send us a photo of your current routine and what went wrong with it, and we will tell you honestly if we do not have anything better for you.
